Hi ,

We are officially in the final stretch of Mental Health Month, but our mission to break the silence and build community is just getting started. True collective care happens when we carry the awareness raised in May straight into the rest of the year.

Inside this newsletter, you’ll find your guide to finishing the month strong and a first look at our upcoming June events, including local community gatherings and peer-led support networks. Take a look below to find out how you can connect, find support, or step up to advocate for a stigma-free community.

The 4th Annual Taylor Brothers Memorial Walk, Golf Outing & Happy Hour

When: Saturday, June 6, 2026 | 9:00 AM
Where: Techny Prairie Park, Anetsberger Golf Course, Whiskey River Bar & Grill

Mental health is a journey that touches every single one of us, yet the stigma surrounding it so often cuts off lines of support. In less than two weeks, on Saturday, June 6, we invite you to stand with Team Taylor and NAMI CCNS. Together, we will honor their memory, advocate for mental health awareness, and ensure that no one in our community has to face their struggles alone. Whether you walk, golf, or simply raise a glass with us, your presence makes a difference.

Schedule of Events

  • 9:00 AM | Memorial Walk: A community gathering at Techny Prairie Park, Northbrook. This event is FREE and requires no registration.

  • Following the Walk | Golf Outing: Head over to Anetsberger Golf Course for a fun 9-hole round with friends and family. Note: Spots are limited!

  • 1:00 PM | Happy Hour at Whiskey River: Open to everyone: golfers, walkers, and supporters alike. Come celebrate the day and the community that makes this possible.

How You Can Help

Whether you are hitting the links or walking the trail, your presence helps break the stigma. All funds raised directly benefit vital mental health initiatives in Northern Cook County via NAMI CCNS. Can’t attend? You can still support the cause by donating in honor the Taylor Brothers.

Let’s come together to spread the compassion the Taylor brothers championed. For questions, email taylorbrothersfundraiser@gmail.com.

Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Featured Program: NAMI Family Support Group

When a loved one is navigating a mental health condition, it impacts the entire family system. It is easy to feel isolated, overwhelmed, or burdened by guilt, but you do not have to carry it alone. NAMI’s Family Support Group is a free, peer-led space designed specifically for any adult with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Led by trained family members who have walked a similar path, this group provides a safe, non-judgmental environment to gain constructive insight, discover collective wisdom, and find your inner strength.

What to Expect

By sharing your journey in a safe setting, your voice will be heard, and your personal needs will be prioritized. This group encourages deep empathy, productive discussion, and a true sense of community, helping you:

  • Aim for better coping skills and practical, helpful strategies.

  • Forgive yourself and actively reject unearned guilt.

  • Accept boundaries, recognizing that we cannot solve every problem.

  • Remember that mental health conditions are no one’s fault and can be traumatic experiences for the entire family.

What Our Members Say:

"The most beneficial thing for me was realizing that I am not alone. I found the NAMI Family Support Group at the exact moment I really needed it!"
